Junior Sailing Camp
Pawnee Lake Marina

• Five ½ days (20 hours)
• Sign up for AM or PM Session
• Taught by Ken Merlin, certified small boat instructor (Merlin Power & Sail)
• Boats – Sunfish (2), Precision 14, O’Day 12 - owner’s boat (14’and under) welcome (20% discount)
• Cost: $225/junior (Ages 12-16) includes ”Start Sailing Right” text/certification log book

• Must be able to swim 50 yds (25 yds in sailing clothes & shoes w/PFD). Test administered first day of class.

Juniors will learn:

General Skills (In class) – wind direction, rigging/unrigging, knots/lines, rules of the road….and
Boat Handling Skills (On-the water) – departure/landing, steering, safety position, tacking, points of sail, jibing, capsize recovery, overboard recovery, getting out of irons, upwind sailing

Juniors will receive: a record of certification, The Little Red Book, upon successful completion of the camp
